Where to stop

Portovenere is best enjoyed from the water. Plan any stop only where mooring or anchoring is permitted and take extra care around the harbour and passenger traffic.

WHAT TO DO
  • Slow down near the harbour and other vessels
  • Watch for ferries and local boat traffic
  • Ask Discovery Boat for updated advice before departure
  • Choose stops according to wind, sea state and crowds
WHAT TO AVOID
  • Do not improvise a berth in reserved harbour spaces
  • Avoid creating wake in port areas
  • Keep the required distance from swimmers, buoys and the coast
  • Do not treat this guide as a substitute for current local rules
Discovery Boat tip

An early start often means calmer water and beautiful light across the Portovenere waterfront.

Rules and safety

Local ordinances, swimming areas and navigation rules can change during the season. Always follow the Discovery Boat briefing and the official rules in force on the day.
